What We Believe
In the essentials we need unity, in the non-essentials we need freedom; but in all things we need love.
- Rupertus Meldenius
- We believe the Bible is the true, authoritative, and trustworthy record of how God chose to display himself to mankind throughout history. The Bible was written down by men as the Holy Spirit led them to do so. It is not a book of rules; rather it is a story of men who continually sin against God and each other, and God’s great plan of love and justice as He rescues mankind from their sin.
- We believe that there is one true and living God who exists in 3 persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
- We believe Jesus Christ became human without ceasing to be God, so that He was both fully God and fully human.
- We believe God created all things for His glory.
- We believe men and women were created in the image of God.
- We believe mankind was created as a worshiper, to glorify God above all else. To give glory is not a singular act; rather it is the order or value we place on people and things. It is what we glorify, we then worship. Worship is the expression of our actions, words, and motives, including the giving and sacrificing of our resources to who/what we value or place as most important in our life.
- We believe mankind was originally created good. However, by an act of the will every person chooses to sin (act selfishly, and to glorify and worship something/someone other than God.) Sin brings evil and death, both physical and spiritual into the world.
- We believe people are completely incapable of rescuing, separating, or cleansing themselves from sin. Justification, salvation, redemption, reconciliation, sanctification, and glorification are all works provided to us because of Jesus’ death and resurrection. One receives these gifts by grace alone, through faith in Jesus alone.
- We believe that the Holy Spirit fills, equips, and guides everyone who trusts in Jesus Christ to live out their God created and intended identity.
- We believe in the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
- We believe Jesus Christ will return to judge the living and the dead.
