Daughter Project 5K

Feb 2, 2012 by     No Comments    Posted under: Daughter Project

“Live for something greater” is more than a mantra at Hope Church North Park, it is what we challenge ourselves and others with every day.

When we began the process of starting a church in North Park, it was exciting to think of the various projects that we could lead in the community and worldwide.  One of the things that Jon and I have been involved in, previous to starting Hope Church North Park, was the Daughter Project (a non-profit organization which rescues and prevents girl child trafficking in Nepali communities).  Last year our church was able to be a part of rescuing over 20 girls from sex trafficking, which was for us, a life changing event.

Since we have begun our church in North Park, we wanted to continue to not only be a part of the Daughter Project, but find ways to spread the awareness of sex trafficking and find new preventive measures that can be taken to avoid this horrible crime.  Unfortunately, human trafficking is considered to be one of the fastest growing criminal industries in the world. (polarisproject.org) It is estimated that this is now a $32 billion per year industry.  However, we believe that we can be a large part in changing this statistic and saving these children.

This year Hope Church North Park and Sweetwater River Church have teamed up and have put together a 5K walk/run  to raise funds for the Daughter Project and awareness of sex trafficking.
