The Daughter Project
Our faith is more than a confession we make, or ideas we affirm. Our faith in Jesus Christ becomes the foundation as to how we live. This is why we partner with and support the work of the Daughter Project.
The Daughter Project is a holistic approach to preventing girl child trafficking in high-risk communities in India and Nepal. The project considers the need for: awareness education, economic development, rescue intervention, and long term care of girls.
Human trafficking is considered to be one of the fastest growing criminal industries. (polarisproject.org) It is estimated that this is now a $32 billion per year industry.
Because of the work of the Daughter Project, in 2009, 31 girls were rescued from the hands of traffickers and dozens more were prevented from ever nearing the border,18 awareness campaigns were presented in high risk border areas with over 5000 Nepali children and adults educated about the risks of trafficking and sexual abuse. We now have 5 rescue shelters in these high risk districts with more on the way in 2010.
